Spongecell Hearts Politics

One possible use for Spongecell is in the promotion of political events such as rallies, fund-raisers, etc. We’ll be releasing some new features Sunday evening so stay tuned.

I was just up in the pacific north-west visiting the Seattle team aka Sea Sponges. We attended a very energetic dinner at the Flying Fish on Tuesday with many influential members of local and national politics. In addition to political event promotion, other topics of conversation included global warming, the iphone, and reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

Here’s a picture of myself with Howard Dean, Chairman of the Democratic National Comittee.

Very early in the dinner I realized I picked the wrong day to wear my “I Heart Bush” t-shirt. I admit that everyone did have a good sense of humor about it however wearing something witty about Clinton may have gone over better.

Engine Yard Upgrade Complete

We completed the transition to Engine Yard as scheduled. I did some benchmarking before we went live and I estimate that Spongecell is now 3 times as fast! You can read the full technical report.

Engine Yard will be upgrading their load balancers at 12:01am Sunday for 3 hours so there may be some sponge interruptions.

Scheduled Downage 2.0

Do we only blog about scheduled downages? Seriously though, this is the big one. We’re switching our servers from Layered Tech to Engine Yard. I expect big speed improvements, stay tuned for numbers.

Downage from Sunday 6/3 3pm to 8pm PDT
