Direct Marketing News And Yari Film Group

Direct Marketing News recently interviewed Matt Gillhooey, Director of Online Operations at the Yari Film Group, about their viral marketing campaign for Final Season.

Yari Film Group used Spongecell to manage RSVPs for multiple advanced screenings across the country. Yari Film Group chose Spongecell to automate the entire RSVP process through the microsite they built for the film:

“We tried to bring in an RSVP technology to allow people to register for these screenings online. Spongecell gave us the opportunity to convert people who were interested in the film to signing up and registering for these screenings. All across the country screenings were very successful and we were very happy.”

The film about a small-town baseball team from Iowa targeted a specific family demographic that Yari Film Group reached through a combination of paid search, banner ads, email, and theatrical trailers. We are excited to have helped make the campaign a success, and to have been an integral part of such diverse and innovative marketing by one of the country’s largest independent film distributors.

Jamiroquai and Spongecell

Jamiroquai recently received a nice write-up in Mashable for embracing aspects of web 2.0 in their new website and across social networks. Mashable is the world’s largest blog on social networking, and their coverage of Jamiroquai highlights how artists can benefit from embracing widgets to promote themselves:

“The whole purpose of a music artist or group participating in web 2.0 culture is the act of viral promotion and integrating with existing social networks. And that means widgets. True, this is something that most artists and bands have already taken advantage of, but let’s look at the whole picture. Jamiroquai has done a complete overhaul and has adopted pretty much every social networking tool out there, including RSS, and online marketing.”

Mashable highlighted how Jamiroquai uses Spongecell to promote events in their new website and across social networks. We’ve all been fans of Jamiroquai since he emerged in the early 90s in the midst of the acid jazz revival, and we’re proud to see they have embraced Spongecell.
